  • Where there was no fee for an activity before July 2015 (in Rodney and Franklin) the licence fee will apply from 1 July 2015 but the rental component will apply from 1 July 2017.
  • For existing outdoor dining and drinking areas, where no licence fee or rent has been charged previously, the rents set out in the table (Part B: rentals) will not apply until the 2017/2018 year.
  • Street trading activities (except for distribution of promotional goods) that use less than 1.5 square metre or place no furniture or equipment in the public space will not attract a rent. Street trading activities occupying more than 1.5 square metre and with furniture or equipment placed in the public space will be charged based on the full trading area.
  • Where mobile traders roam across two or more tiers, the higher tier rent will apply.
  • Mobile food traders trading in public places will also require a food licence for mobile food vendor from the council and pay the relevant fees (see the schedule of fees and charges for other environmental health and licensing services).
  • Over-sized vendors (occupying a trading area of more than 20 square metres) will be charged a rent calculated based on their actual size.
