Community shellfish monitoring

Together with the Department of Conservation, we provide coordinator support and equipment to groups who undertake annual shellfish surveys.

We also provide schools with teaching resources to add value to what they learned from the survey.

Shellfish monitoring:

  • provides a health indicator for the beaches of the Hauraki Gulf
  • aims to increase awareness of the shellfish harvesting limits.

If you want to co-ordinate a community shellfish survey contact us.
