The maps on this page show places where freedom camping is not allowed in Ōrākei under the Freedom Camping in Vehicles Bylaw 2022.

This does not mean that freedom camping is allowed anywhere not shown.

In addition to the bylaw rules for the areas in Ōrākei shown below, you also cannot freedom camp:

at council reserves (parkland held under the Reserves Act), unless we set aside areas for this in future
in regional parks
in car parks where parking is reserved, and/or a fee is charged to park (such as council parking buildings).

General rules apply to freedom camping in other areas in Ōrākei .

32 St Heliers Bay Road, St Heliers

Prohibited freedom camping area at St Heliers Community Library and Hall on St Heliers Bay Road.

Near intersection of Riddell Road and Glendowie Road, Glendowie

Prohibited freedom camping area at the carpark by Anderson's Beach Reserve in Glendowie.

353-359 Tamaki Drive, St Heliers

Prohibited freedom camping area in and around Vellenoweth Green in St Heliers.

384 Tamaki Drive, St Heliers

Prohibited freedom camping area at St Heliers Bay Beach Reserve on Tamaki Drive.
