The Annual Budget 2022/2023 decision-making process
The annual budget sets the activities, services and investments for the following year, and details how we might pay for them.
We publish an annual budget every year. Every three of those years a 10-year budget is published in place of the annual budget for that year.
About the Annual Budget 2022/2023 decision-making process
The mayoral proposal
The mayoral proposal is the first step in developing our annual budget. When the mayor released the proposal on 1 December 2021, he outlined the issues he thinks are most important for Auckland.
See the OurAuckland website for more information on Mayor Phil Goff’s proposal for the Annual Budget 2022/2023.
Political consideration and decision making
In the following months, our Governing Body will discuss the mayoral proposal and develop the proposed annual budget.
Consultation on this annual budget is open from 28 February to 28 March 2022 on the AK Have Your Say website.
After consultation has ended, our Governing Body will consider your feedback, deliberate content and made decisions for the final Annual Budget 2022/2023.
Finalisation and adoption
Our Governing Body will approve the annual budget in late June.
The Annual Budget 2022/2023 will be operational from 1 July 2022, the first day of the new financial year.
