How to apply for a building consent
Apply online
We only accept online applications for building consents.
Complete the relevant lodgement checklist and upload it with your application.
There is also a form to complete if you intend to provide producer statements during the construction phase of your project.

If you are unable to apply online
Visit one of our
libraries with council services for assistance if you cannot:
- apply for a building consent online
- provide digital copies of your plans or documents.
Our staff will accept your documents for
an additional charge. The charge covers our costs for scanning your documents into our digital building consent system.

You should know
Once work is completed you will need to apply for a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC). All CCC applications, including fixed fee consents, will be subject to additional charges for processing (excludes subsidised applications).

When applying online, you can pay by credit card, Online EFTPOS or Account2Account.
A card payment fee of 1.75 per cent applies for credit and debit card payments.
What happens next
It can take us up to
20 working days to assess your building consent application.
You need to pay all outstanding fees before we can issue your consent.
Your allocated service manager will contact you if we need more information.
If you have lodged your consent online, you can access and track:
- resource consents
- building consents
- required inspections
- advice notes and conditions
- CCC applications
- licencing applications.
We will also let you know the outcome of your application by email and post.

Find your invoice online
You can now view your invoice on
myAUCKLAND.
Go to the Actions menu of the specific consent and select either
View invoices and payments or
View details.
