Tūtangi Ora (Historic Heritage Information) is a database with information on over 20,000 heritage places in the Auckland region, including:
- archaeological and maritime sites
- built and botanical heritage areas and places
- sites of significance to mana whenua Hapū and iwi with ancestral relationships to certain areas in Tāmaki Makaurau where they exercise customary authority.
- bibliography of historic heritage documentation.
Tūtangi Ora does not grant formal protection to heritage places.
We expect Tūtangi Ora to be available for public use by late 2026. Email heritage@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz for information about a specific heritage place.
