Apply to amend a compliance schedule

Reasons to apply to amend a compliance schedule

  • An existing specified system is affected and requires altered inspection and maintenance requirements.
  • A new specified system is being installed as part of the building consent.
  • An existing specified system is being removed as part of the building consent.
  • The compliance schedule needs to be updated with specific details from the site to make sure it meets the current requirements of the Building Act.

Who can apply to amend a compliance schedule

An amendment can be started by:

  • the owner – for any reason
  • the owner’s independent qualified person (IQP) – to make sure the specified systems will work according to the set performance standards
  • the council – to make sure the specified systems will work according to the set performance standards.

Our tip

Adding substantial alterations or removing a specified system may need a building consent. Undertaking unconsented work may lead to enforcement action.
