Txt 2 De-sex campaign

What is Txt 2 De-sex?

Get free de-sexing for your registered menacing dog.

Central government has funded this service as part of the strategy to reduce the risk and harm of dog attacks.

This is limited to available funding so we will be processing applications on a first come, first serve basis.

How your dog can qualify for Txt 2 De-sex

To qualify for this service:

  • your dog must be of menacing breed or type
  • your dog must be currently registered
  • the registered owner should be the one to apply.

By law, menacing dogs have to be de-sexed and micro chipped. They must also be muzzled while in a public space.

How to apply for Txt 2 De-sex

Text "Yes" to 3169 or phone 0800 462 685.

What happens next

Our staff will contact you to check a few details. If your application is accepted, in a couple of days we will set up an appointment for you with a vet.

If you need to change the appointment time, contact us 24 hours before the booking.

If you miss the booking, we will withdraw the offer.

Our tip

Participating vets are also offering micro-chipping at the time of the operation for only $10. Muzzles are available at our shelters. See Find an animal shelter.
