Use a barbecue in a park, reserve and beach
COVID-19 Alert Level 1 – Parks and barbecue information
Parks facilities including toilets are open at Alert Level 1, with the exception of drinking fountains and outdoor showers which remain closed due to water restrictions.
Keep track of your visits by making a note or manually checking in to the NZ COVID Tracer app.
Do not visit a park if you are unwell.

Take note of the following when using barbecues in our parks, reserves or beaches:
- You cannot take coal or wood burning barbeques into parks, reserves or beaches.
- You can take your own gas barbecue into parks and reserves, but you must not use it near or under trees.
- All open flamed barbecues should be elevated at least 30cm off the ground.
