Central Library Roof Remediation Project

​We are installing a new roofing system at the Central City Library to preserve the building for years to come.

Project timeline

The project will start in early October 2020 and will be completed by December 2021.

Project stages

Due to the complexity of the roof structure, we have to carry out the work in stages.

The work will include:

• setting up the site including installing scaffolding and shrink wrap
• installing temporary mechanical services
• surfacing grinding to the existing concrete roof in preparation for the new roof
• carpentry and concrete works
• installing a new waterproofing system
• reinstating mechanical services
• removing scaffolding.

How the project will affect library users and local residents

• Increased noise (noise levels will be closely monitored to ensure we don't exceed legal limits).
• No pedestrian access to the back of the building as it's being used as a temporary construction site.
