You should know
Rubbish bag prices are higher for the Hauraki Gulf islands to cover the cost of transporting large amounts of waste (e.g. recyclables and rubbish) to the mainland for disposal.

Recycling bins in service
Recycle bin dimensions
- 360-litre bins are 1100mm high and 848mm wide.
- 240-litre bins are 1060mm high and 730mm wide.
- 120-litre bins are 930mm high and 545mm wide.

Rubbish and recycling bin charges
You will not get a refund on your rates if you downsize a rubbish bin. The extra charge for the larger bin will be removed from your rates from 1 July.
The annual charge for a new waste service (recycling and rubbish bin) is pro-rated based on the time between when the bin was ordered and end of the financial year on 30 June.
