Rates and valuations - your rates

Rating Information Database (RID)

The Rating Information Database (RID) records all information for the setting and assessing of property rates and enables members of the public to have reasonable access to this information.

You have a right to inspect and, on certain grounds, object to our rating information database and rates records.

Find out more about how your rates are worked out.

Complete Rating Information Database (CRID)

Owners' names and postal addresses are included on the Complete Rating Information Database.

If you are a property owner, you may write to council asking for your name or postal address, or both, to be withheld from the database. You do not need to give reasons.

To request suppression of details please see Withholding name and address.

The CRID information cannot be given out verbally over the phone or in writing. It may only be viewed by visiting a council service centre, or any local board office

Note: Please bring photo ID with you.

You can view the CRID at the following locations:

  • Bledisloe Lane Service Centre, Auckland City
  • Manukau Service Centre, Manakau City
  • Henderson Service Centre, Waitakere City
  • Papakura Service Centre
  • Pukekohe Service Centre
  • Orewa Service Centre, Rodney District
  • Takapuna Service Centre, North Shore City
  • Great Barrier Island
  • Waiheke Island

Inspection of the database cannot be used for the purposes of bulk collection of names and/or mailing addresses and is therefore limited to five separate properties.

Where the owners name and/or address information has been withheld in terms of section 28 (c) of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002, you can provide a written request stating the reasons why you need the information.

The council will forward the request to the property owner on your behalf.

When information is 'not applicable' or 'not available'

Some former councils recorded extra rates information in their databases, which has now been included in the RID. This extra information may not be available for all properties in the Auckland region. We are moving to a more streamlined approach in the future and apologise for any inconvenience.
