Register as an Independent Qualified Person (IQP)

​How to register as an IQP

Our tip

All Independent Qualified Person applications (new and renewals) must include a photo that will be uploaded onto the membership card.
You will need to renew the registration every year.

 By email

Email the completed registration form, all supporting documentation (see the checklist on the form) and your photo to: IQP.Registrar@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

No payment is required at this stage, you will be invoiced once the application has been approved.

Registration costs for Independent Qualified Person - Fixed fee (non-refundable, no additional charges) $362
Registration renewal for Independent Qualified Person (3 yearly) - Fixed fee (non-refundable, no additional charges) $204

​Fixed fees are non-refundable and no additional charges will apply.

Independent Qualified Person invoices are issued upon submission of the application and these fees are fixed.

What happens next

We present new applications to the registration team at fortnightly meetings.

If your application meets the criteria and includes the required supporting documentation, the team will approve it.

We will send you an invoice and once paid, we will add you to the IQP register and send you a Registered Independent Qualified Person Practicing Certificate.
