Register as an Independent Qualified Person (IQP)

What you need to register as an IQP

Before you register, make sure you have:

  • qualifications for each specified system
  • supporting documents for each specified system
  • your work history or CV
  • three references
  • IQP assessment information
  • copies of professional memberships and licenses
  • a recent photo of yourself for a new IQP membership card
  • a current insurance certificate that has not expired.

Our tip

You need to Renew your IQP registration every three years.

Every year you will need to Submit your annual insurance certificate.

How to register

Email the completed registration form, all supporting documentation and your photo to:

IQP.Registrar@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

No payment is required at this stage.

We will send you your invoice once we approve your application.​

Registration renewal for IQP (every three years) - Fixed fee (non-refundable, no additional charges)$500
Changes to an existing IQP outside the renewal process (includes changes to company names) - Fixed fee (non-refundable, no additional charges)$250
Additions to existing IQP (excludes high risk) - Fixed fee (non-refundable, no additional charges)$250

What happens next

We present new applications to the registration team at meetings held every two weeks.

We will approve your application if it meets the criteria and includes the required supporting documentation.

Once you have paid the registration fee, we will add you to the IQP register and send you a Registered Independent Qualified Person Practising Certificate.
