Apply for repayable financial assistance to upgrade or replace your septic tank

Who can apply for financial assistance to upgrade or replace a septic tank?

You can apply for financial assistance to upgrade or replace your septic tank with a more modern system, if you live within the catchment areas of:

  • Little Oneroa (Waiheke Island)
  • Piha
  • Piha North
  • Bethells (Te Henga)
  • Karekare.

The repayable financial assistance is between $2000 and $35,000.

This offer will expire in February 2019.

How you repay the assistance amount

You repay the assistance amount, including interest, through a targeted rate included on your rates bill.

We charge interest at the standard Auckland Council borrowing rate, plus a one per cent administration margin.

We update the rate annually in July.

What happens next

We will process your application and notify your supplier.

Once they have finished the work, we will pay them directly. We will also send you a repayment letter.

We will start adding repayments to your rates bill from 1 July.
