Severe Weather Emergency Recovery Order 2024

Our Healthy Waters department recently applied for flood resilience works needed as a result of the:

  • Auckland Anniversary Weekend floods in January 2023
  • Cyclone Gabrielle events in February 2023.

This is part of an Order in Council (OiC) process. It is also known as the Severe Weather Emergency Recovery (Auckland Flood Resilience Works) Order 2024.

The two catchment areas of the Te Ararata and Harania Creeks in Māngere were among the worst hit in Auckland. The proposal aims to speed-up the recovery of these areas by shortening the resource consent process so work can start in summer 2024/2025.
