Amendments to an outdoor dining licence
Transfer of an existing outdoor dining licence
If you are the new owner of a business holding a current outdoor dining licence, you will need to change the ownership details.
You must tell us within 10 working days of the transfer of ownership.

Renewing an outdoor dining licence
An outdoor dining licence needs to be renewed annually if you want to continue to serve customers eating or drinking on the footpath or public space outside your venue.

Temporary changes to approved areas
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are the owner of a business holding a current outdoor dining licence and would like to make temporary changes to the approved outdoor dining area to help you trade under the COVID-19 Protection Framework settings.
We will arrange an inspection, either remotely or in person, to help you work through the changes you require and ensure ongoing compliance with the Trading and Events in Public Places Bylaw and applicable COVID-19 requirements.
In your email, include the following:
- your preferred contact details
- business licence number
- business trading name
- a plan showing the new planned area or the changes to an existing area, e.g. a sketch showing dimensions and relative distances of the area you wish to occupy (see example).
Temporary licences that involve using the carriageway (such as car parks and other spaces usually used by vehicles) will be reviewed as the alert levels change to ensure safety.
You may need to stop using such areas and remove any temporary installations. We will give as much notice as possible if this happens.
