Help protect our kauri trees

You need to clean your footwear and equipment before visiting our parks. This will help prevent the spread of weeds and plant diseases such as Kauri dieback.

We have closed large sections of our parks network to prevent the spread of kauri dieback. For more information see Protect our kauri trees.

Booking information

You can book our campgrounds and baches up to six months in advance (12 months for lodges) from the day you intend to arrive up until the maximum stay limit for your chosen option.

Availability refreshes at 12am (midnight) daily. So for example, a 7 night campground booking from 13 to 20 December 2019, will be available to book from 12am on 13 June 2019.

Booking with an underage group

Campground bookings for an unsupervised group under the age of 18:

You will need consent to make a campground booking when your group is aged 16 years and 17 years.

You will need to:

  1. Download our Regional Parks: Parental Consent Form (PDF 87KB)
  2. Have your legal guardian complete and sign the form.
  3. Supply your completed form when you make your booking.

For health and safety reasons, bookings for groups of people aged 15 years and under are not allowed without appropriate supervision.

All other bookings for unsupervised groups under the age of 18:

Baches, lodges and bookable sites may not be booked by people under 18. You may only use these sites with appropriate supervision.

How you can dispose of your waste

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

About Atiu Creek campground

This is a vehicle-based campground located on the northern side of the park near Solomon's Bay. It is 3.1 km into the park from the main car park.


From the main car park, take the metal road past the toilet block following the directional signs for the next 3.1 km to the campground.

Grass, flat



Long rectangular shape, access through the centre with camping allowed anywhere in the campground.



A potable water (dam supply) tap in front of the toilet block.


You need to supply

Solar shower, shower tent and support (they may not be hung from trees).



One toilet block with three unisex toilets, one of which has wheelchair access. The toilet block is half way down on the eastern side of the campground. The toilet block is shared with day visitors.



There are recycling and general rubbish containers for waste in the campground.

You may

Stay in buses, horse trucks and campervans under 8m.

You may not

Stay in any other trucks and portable container dwellings.

Stay in vehicles over 8m including buses, 5 wheelers, campervans, horse trucks and floats.
