Monthly business meetings

The monthly board business meetings are where the local board makes decisions.

When and where they are held

We hold business meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

These meetings, which are open to the public, start at 1pm and are held at:

Waiheke Local Board boardroom, 10 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke.

Who can speak at a monthly business meeting

Local board meetings are a good opportunity for members of the public to raise issues with their local board. You can speak informally in a public forum or formally through a deputation.

Email the local board office at waihekelocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz in advance if you would like to speak at a monthly business meeting.

The Waiheke Local Board holds regular meetings where the public can attend or speak.

The board is responsible for:

  • local council services and facilities (parks, library and community facilities)
  • listening to your views on issues of regional significance (transport, rates or planning) and advocating to the Governing Body on these issues.

A speaker may not speak about a matter that:

  • has already been considered and decided
  • has a separate public hearings or consultation process attached to it
  • is subject to a quasi-judicial process
  • is outside of the scope or functions of that local board or committee.

Monthly community forums

Community forums are a good place to express your opinion to your elected representatives.

When and where they are held

Waiheke Local Board boardroom, 10 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke.

You can attend in person or online. Email waihekelocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz to request a link to attend online.

Who can speak at a community forum

Anyone can speak to the local board at a community forum, as long as the matter relates to a function of the Waiheke Local Board. The forum also provides an opportunity to provide feedback on workshop agenda items (see Workshops section on this page).

How long you can speak for

The board allocates one hour for the public to speak to elected members during a forum. Each speaker has 15 minutes including time for questions from the board members.

A separate open question-and-answer session will be held after the forum.

Workshops

Purpose of workshops

Local board workshops focus on oversight and delivery of projects in their work programme.

This includes topics like events and renewing assets across the local board area.

Workshops are not open to the public, but we do publish a record of what was discussed and presented at the workshops.

The local board does not make decisions at these workshops.
