You should know

Holidays can cause confusion at the end of the year.

You still need to apply to renew your alcohol licence at least 20 working days before it expires. Under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, the days between 20 December 2023 and 15 January 2024 are not working days.

This means if your licence is due to expire between 20 December 2023 and 15 January 2024, you need to apply for renewal by Tuesday 21 November 2023.

If your licence is due to expire between 16 January 2024 and 13 February 2024 you need to carefully calculate the latest date for filing your licence renewal application. It will be in either November or December.

When to renew your alcohol club licence

If you have an existing club licence, you must apply to renew it at least 20 working days before it expires.

If you know you will be submitting your application less than 20 working days before your current licence expires, you need to say on your application form why it is late. The application form will ask you to provide further detail.
