Geotechnical project for Muriwai

Last updated: 2 February 2024

We are currently working with the consultancy GHD to undertake a significant study of land stability at Muriwai.

Muriwai: Geotechnical assessment update

Our geotechnical supplier GHD has been completing on-site assessments of the area and providing mitigation options for properties.

Most affected Muriwai properties have now received their final property categorisation.

For more information, read Final property categorisation numbers for Muriwai.

We aim to release the Muriwai Landslide Risk Assessment Report and Muriwai Mitigations Options Report to affected property owners in March. The second (and final) release of this report will be made publicly available at a later date.

Category 3 home removal process in Muriwai

We have purchased a few properties in Muriwai through the Category 3 buy-out scheme.

The process of removing the buildings on these properties is underway. As part of the deconstruction, contractors will be completing asbestos surveys and disconnecting services. We will update the community before removing any buildings.

To learn more, see Category 3 property buy-out information between Auckland Council and the government.
