Business meetings
Kaipātiki Local Board makes decisions at its monthly business meetings.
Members of the public can attend Kaipātiki Local Board meetings, either:
- in person, or
- online with Microsoft Teams.

When and where they are held
These meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of every month and are open to the public.
They start at 10am and are held at:

Speak at a business meeting
Members of the public can speak at local board business meetings through:
- a public forum
- a deputation.
Public forum
Anyone can speak for up to three minutes during a public forum at a business meeting as long as the topic is related to the roles and responsibilities of the local board.
You do not need to give notice to speak during a public forum but you must tell the democracy advisor that you intend to speak before the meeting starts.
Deputation
You can also speak at a business meeting for up to 10 minutes through a deputation. This is a formal presentation and needs approval from the chairperson.
Email kaipātikilocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz at least seven working days before the date of the meeting if you want to speak through a deputation.

Community forums
Community forums are an opportunity for you to speak to your elected representatives.
You can:
- talk about issues facing you or your community group
- give an update about your group’s activities.
When and where they are held
Community forums are held four times a year at local venues within the local board area.

Speak at a community forum
Anyone can speak to the local board at a community forum as long as the matter is relevant to Kaipātiki Local Board, such as:
- local council services
- facilities like parks, libraries and leisure centres.
You can speak as a group or an individual for up to 15 minutes. This includes time for questions from local board members.
Formal decisions are not made at community forum meetings. These are made at our business meetings.

Workshops
At local board workshops, local board members discuss various projects and initiatives within their area. These workshops are used to:
- discuss the progress of ongoing projects and initiatives
- help local board members prepare for decisions about projects and initiatives
- support discussions between:
- consider and address any other issues or concerns.
Decisions are not made at these workshops. They are only for discussions and to help local board members prepare to make decisions.
Members of the public can watch some of the Kaipātiki Local Board workshops in-person or online with Microsoft Teams. Some sessions may be closed to the public if they involve sensitive information.
The public cannot speak or present at a workshop.

Workshops are usually held on the first, second, fourth and fifth (where applicable) Wednesday of every month.
