Kaipātiki Local Board public and business meetings

Monthly business meetings

The board makes decisions at the monthly business meetings which are open to the public.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions our meetings are being held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Read more about attending a meeting via MS Teams.

Members of the public wanting to observe the meeting will need to email our democracy advisor to obtain a link.

The meetings start at 10am.

Anyone can ask to speak at a local board business meeting.  It is an opportunity to raise issues with your local board

Community forums

Community forums are bi-monthly meetings that are set up to hear views from the community.

They are a good opportunity to express your opinion and talk with your elected representatives.

When and where community forums take place

Community forums are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month starting at 6pm.

Kaipātiki Local Board meeting room, 90 Bentley Avenue, Glenfield

For the meeting schedule, see Kaipātiki Local Board meetings.

Each group or individual is allocated 10 minutes for a presentation. This presentation must be submitted seven clear working days before the date of the meeting and approved by the Chairperson.

You can talk about issues facing you or your community group or give an update about your group's activities. You can only have two presenters but you're welcome to have extra people attend in support.

The presentation is recorded on the public record in official minutes.

The board does not make any resolutions about funding decisions.

Speaking at public local board meetings

If you'd like to speak at a local board meeting contact the local board office at least seven days in advance to let us know:

kaipatikilocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

A speaker may not speak about a matter that:
  • has already been considered and decided
  • has a separate public hearings or consultation process attached to it
  • is subject to a quasi-judicial process
  • is outside of the scope or functions of that local board or committee.

The chairperson can refuse your request if:

  • it does not comply with the Kaipātiki Local Board Standing Orders
  • there is insufficient time to receive the deputation
  • there is a more appropriate committee or person to receive the deputation
  • it is offensive, vexatious or repetitive.
For more information on ways you can speak at a Local Board meeting, see Speak at a Local Board meeting.

Workshops

Purpose of workshops

Local board workshops focus on oversight and delivery of projects in their work programme.

Topics typically include:

  • events
  • renewing assets across the local board area.

The local board does not make decisions at these workshops.

Workshops in Kaipātiki are open to the public and we publish a record of what is discussed and presented.

Due to COVID-19, some workshop items were cancelled and replaced with information circulated via email to Kaipātiki Local Board Members. To maintain public oversight of these items, copies of the workshop documents are kept on our website.
